Day 6 Conquered #OctPoWriMo 2018

Day 6 #OctPoWriMo

Theme: Conquered; Style: Rondeau; Word Prompts: worth the fight, victory, battle, forever, together

15 lines long, consisting of three stanzas: a quintet, a quatrain, and a sestet with a rhyme scheme as follows: aabba aabR aabbaR. Lines 9 and 15 are short – a refrain (R) consisting of a phrase taken from line one.

This was very hard to write and I’m sure needs a rewrite, but I see a theme returning. I see I didn’t use the prompt words, yet the poem indicates fight and conquer I think. What do you think?

———-—

She persisted through thick and thin
All alone she would not win
Brainwashing instruction
Full of fear and false deduction
Teaching separation even from kin

“Until death do us part” she said
Now she was stuck, fear in her head
That vow was broken and she was expelled
Nevertheless … she persisted

Divorced and lonely
Friends were phony
Mother of two
Responsibilities grew
Would she find her one and only?
Nevertheless … she persisted
