imagine a public rebuke

Can you Imagine what it is like
To be rebuked publicly?
I don’t have to imagine.
I was the victim of said rebuke

In church….

Let me set the stage….

Four girls ages 10-12
Sitting together on the back row

Quietly passing notes and giggling (and not paying attention to the too long boring sermon my dad was delivering. And by the way, sermons were always a minimum of an hour.)

The four girls became aware of the voice changing and saying “will the four girls sitting in the back row please look up and pay attention?!”

Full of embarrassment and fear of punishment we stopped. For several months afterwards my sister and I were doomed to sit on the front row with my mother and brothers.

Rebukes like puke are stinky!🤮
