Closets, Cabinets
Treasures galore
I’m stuck on the shelf
Completely ignored
No room to breath
Dust in my mouth
Lonely and tattered
Tarnished and scratched
Free me from hiding
And further decay
Give me away
No longer delay
My time has come
To go away.

I can understand that it becomes very satisfying, an achievement of sorts.

Very much so! And it’s so much easier to keep clean and a lighter spirit feeling.

I realize that your note specified this was about removing items that were just gathering dust but I could imagine it’s also a good analogy for relationships that have stagnated, feeling neglect after so many years and it was time to move on. I like that I could grab another meaning from your writing. 🙂
