IF we were sharing coffee today, this is all I would talk about.

Sitting here in my chair
As the world is pushing forward
May we all do our share
To make way for less slaughter

He is on the ground
His hands tied behind his back
The blue points his gun

When will it end
The hatred and vile contempt
That has infected our world

Are we at a turning point?
Dare we hope?

We cannot stop
We must prevail
We must rid this world
Of — “white supremacist capitalist patriarchy”*

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I remember writing protest poetry during the ’60s and ’70s. Women’s Lib, Civil Rights, Antiwar. Taking part in protest marches. Never thought then that we would still be doing this. I just can’t face the pain, again, this time around.

  2. So powerfully well stated Ruth! Thank you for sharing your hopeful optimism that we are at a pivotal turning point of ridding ourselves of the infection of white supremacy and for #CitingBlackWomen in affording bell hooks credit. ❤️
