The modified photo is below. At the time I was trying all kinds of edits and had found this one pleasing, yet now, it does seems way overdone. (I think I used the HDR photo.)

I like the modified version a little better. The original looks a little muddy or dark, whereas the second one brings out the details. But then I suppose it depends upon what mood you, as the photographer, wished to convey in the eyes of the observer.
