MyTake-FOWC with Fandango – Study

Today’s word is study. My life’s journey is now learning and studying the history of our country being founded on racism.

My guide is Myisha T Hill of Check Your Privilege. You can find her on FaceBook and Instagram. She also provides (for as low as $5 a month) a co-conspirator’s lounge, an invaluable resource for support and learning. Check out her posts and conversations. (If you want to join the lounge go to

I am currently reading “”So you want to talk about race” by Ijeoma Oluo. It is easy to read, meaning it is not a college manual. Many things can be very uncomfortable to read. But I love what Myisha says. If when reading or in a conversation and you feel uncomfortable. Pause and reflect about why does this make you uncomfortable.

And this months topic is Lean into Discomfort (I did not know this when I was writing the above.)

  1. Hi Ruth
I totally agree with your thoughts about if something makes you feel uncomfortable then it is time to stop and think about what it is that makes you uncomfortable and follow through on your thoughts and if you need to make changes.
History is very important and enables us to learn more about the events that have shaped our lives and our belief systems and made us who we are today.
I hope that you and your family are remaining safe and well during these unprecedented times 🤗

      1. I am not laughing certainly about Covid it really is a very real and serious problem but I find it really amusing that only last week I was threatened by 2 of my ex’s friends on Tuesday of last week and by the son of a woman I had a couple of dates with on Thursday really can’t keep out of the firing line of some people!!!
