Our prompt questions and words given to us are as follows:
- What are you going through right now? What can you learn from it? What have you endured in the past that taught you something about yourself?
- Word Prompts: Pain, Growth, Learning, Finding yourself
One of the Suggested Poetry Types: Triolet. [A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well. The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital letters representing the repeated lines.]
I came up with two poems. Not sure the second one fits the theme, yet it does.
Life
Life is like a bed of roses
Full of thorns and pretty flowers
Lessons learned can cure neurosis
Life is like a bed of roses
Accepting life is the diagnosis
Spending lots and lots of hours
Life is like a bed of roses
Full of thorns and pretty flowers
The Pandemic
This pandemic is a killer
Always wear your mask
This is not a sci-fi thriller
This pandemic is a killer
The president is a swindler
He'll never learn to stay on task
This pandemic is a killer
Always wear your mask
