This week a haiku.
dash of cinnamon
as wrens build their cup shaped nests
coffee is tasty
Cinnamon is the color of Carolina wrens. They dash / flit /fly about. Now that it is warmer I get to drink my morning coffee while observing the birds. Sometimes I add cinnamon. These wrens have made our back yard as their territory (along with parts of neighboring yards). I love spring.
This post is in response to Colleen’s weekly challenge. You can read about it here. My kigo words are italicized.

Very clever, Ruth! I love the connection between the color and the spice. 🙂

Love it! My husband is toying with turmeric in his tea and coffee… I’ll suggest cinnamon!

“Cinnamon is an excellent addition to coffee. It makes your coffee tastier by imparting subtle sweetness which is great for a cup of sour or bitter coffee. Adding cinnamon also brings health benefits like lowering your cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It is a very good addition for diabetic patients as well.”
What a great color! I didn’t know that about cinnamon. But how much?
Another day of rain here. Only the bravest are out seed gathering. I hope the robin in the hedgerow is cozy 🙂

you know—I don’t really know!! They keep visiting this nest, but… I’ve no evidence of anything else happening!

Ruth, your haiku images are great. Take the first two lines and read them together, then take the second and third line and read them together. The connection between cinnamon, the cup-shaped nest, and your coffee are all wonderful together. ❤
