today’s scribble (05/12/22) National Limerick Day #limerick

I don’t know why “national” instead of universal….

Limericks can be vulgar or crude, and are often inappropriate. Lear liked it that way—he considered “clean” limericks to be average at best. More recent limericks have turned toward current events and social issues.

Here is my offering for today.

There once was a man in New York
Who didn’t know to eat pork
He said to his wife
Just give me the knife
She cut him, then gave him a fork

  1. Limericks have a meter I have to work at. I also know they are supposed to be funny, even risque, but the ones I wrote perhaps were neither? In any case I pretty much stay away from them these days – except to read – of course! 😉
